Arrived last night in Philadelphia around midnight....flight delayed due to bad weather.  I had drinks with young adorable guys in my class (PC Cameroon training class (average age ... 24 ish).  One among them was headed not to Cameroon but to Lesotho (pronounced lesootoo)....a beautiful young man of great depth who will do much good.  Lucky Lesotho-ians!!!  Lesotho is a mountainous little patch of a country in the middle of South Africa, very cold. He looked very rugged in his sweet faced way....have to be (rugged) to serve there.  The next day we had an all day affair called Staging....first orientation mostly meant, I think, for bonding.  We bonded... all (37 of us) very young except for 3 (me included).  We leave tommorow 9 AM for NYC to Brussels(7hrs) then 5 hr layover then 8 hrs to Cameroon.  Some among us will be very hung over for this journey...not me...but it will kick my ass none the less. Many plans are scheduled after that during our 3 day layover in Yaounde (Capital) ....among them a welcome party at the home of the PC Cameroon Director complete with local officials and TV Cameroon to film us.  I will look jet lagged and silly in the skirt I will have to wear.  The adventure will have begun....

  3. Morning, dearPamela. It is a cool and overcast morning in the foothills - June gloom has arrived. By now you are in Africa - such a seemingly exotic location, yet so close with your blogspot space. We will stay tuned for Cameroonian tales! Take good care.
